VICTOR VALLEY BRITISH CAR CLUB BYLAWS

ARTICLE I - NAME

 

The name of this organization shall be known as the Victor Valley British Car Club.

 

ARTICLE II - PURPOSE

 

The purpose of this organization is to promote the maintenance, restoration, preservation and the enjoyable use of British or other collectible automotives for its members.

 

ARTICLE III - MEMBERS

 

Section 1 - Membership Requirements

Individuals shall be accepted into membership as follows

A. Owners of British automobiles or other collectible cars shall make known their intention of becoming members by attending a scheduled meeting or by submitting a written request to the officers.

B. Immediately upon receipt of the organization's completed membership application, the new member is subject to fees and dues.

 

Section 2 - Voting Rights

Each member in good standing shall be entitled to one vote on each matter submitted to a vote of the members

 

Section 3 - Termination of Membership

Failure of any member to pay applicable dues within the deadline specified will automatically terminate his or her membership

 

The members, by a vote of two thirds of the total members in good standing, may suspend or expel a member for:

A. Unsportmanslike conduct or disregard for the safety of others, if such offense is committed during the course of an event of the organization, or an event of any other organization; or

B. Dishonest or unlawful conduct relating to the organization or its members

 

Section 4 - Reinstatement of Membership

Members terminated because of failure to pay annual dues may automatically be reinstated upon full payment of dues and any applicable fees.

 

Members who have been suspended or expelled according to Section 3, paragraph A or B of these bylaws shall submit in writing to the officers just cause for their reinstatement. 

 

ARTICLE IV - MEETINGS

 

Section 1.

Regular business meetings shall be held once a month at a time and place to be determined.

 

Section 2.

Social meetings and events shall be held at such times and places as the Activities Chairperson along with other officers may determine. 

 

ARTICLE V - OFFICERS

 

Section 1 - General Powers

The affairs of the organization shall be managed by its officers who shall have all powers ordinarily excercised by the officers of other organizations and which are not inconsistent with these bylaws. The officers shall be a President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Activities Chairsperson, Membership/Publications Chairsperson and Newsletter Editor.

 

Section 2 - Election and Term of Office

The officers of the organization shall be elected in July by the members in good standing. They shall hold office for two years. Vacancies may be filed for the expiration of term by appointment by the remaining officers.

 

Section 3 - Removal from Office

The members, by a vote of two thirds of the total, may suspend or remove from office any officer for:

A. Unsportsmanlike conduct or disregard for the safety of others.

B. Lack of interest in the welfare of the organization.

C. Failure to pay applicable dues.

D. Dishonest or unlawful conduct.

 

Section 4 - President

The President shall preside at all business meetings and affairs of the organization.

 

Section 5 - Vice President

The Vice President shall perform the duties of the President in the event of the President's absence, disability or refusal to act and when so acting shall have all the powers of the President.

 

Section 6 -  Secretary

The Secretary shall keep the minutes of the meetings and shall be the official correspondent for the organization.

 

Section 7 - Treasurer

The Treasurer shall have charge and custody of all funds of the organization and shall present financial statements at meetings.

 

Section 8 - Activities Chairperson

The Activities Chairperson shall coordinate all the events sponsored by the organization and report thereon at each business meeting of the organization. He/She shall prepare a calendar of events for the organization.

 

Section 9 - Membership/ Publications Chairperson

This chairperson shall obtain application forms from new members, submit appropriate fees from new members to the Treasurer and maintain a current list of members. He/She shall submit notices of upcoming meetings to local news media.

 

Section 10 - Newspaper Editor

The editor will create the club's newspaper, THE LIMEY POST, distributing same at meetings and sending copies to members unable to attend as well as other car clubs.

 

ARTICLE VI - COMMITTEES

 

The organization shall have such comittees, either temporary or standing, as shall be appointed, with powers in accordance with the wishes of the Officers.

 

ARTICLE VII - FISCAL YEAR

 

The fiscal year of the organization shall begin on the first day of July and end on the last day of June each year.

 

ARTICLE VIII - MEMBERSHIP DUES

 

The annual membership dues will be determined by a recommendation of the officers and approved by a majority of the members in good standing that are present at any business meeting. The dues shall be payable as of July 1st. The dues of new members shall be full until January 1st and thereafter reduced to one-half of the full dues. 

 

ARTICLE IX - AMENDMENT OF BYLAWS

These bylaws may be altered, amended or repealed by members in good standing at any business meeting.
